I’m a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (also known as the Mormon or LDS Church).  I really enjoy talking to other people about my faith, but can occasionally get a little frustrated when people call my religion a “cult” for two reasons: 

1) They often have very little context, background or knowledge on the Mormon faith.

2) They use “cult” as a way to put down the faith without even knowing the definition of the word.

So I decided to put together my thoughts here so that others could understand the Mormon religion a little bit better and why it does not fit as a “cult” in the way that most people use it.
